The more mechanical and routine life one lives, the more uninspiring, dull, and sluggish the quality of life becomes.

There is no fun in living a pre-defined and secure life.

Indeed there is comfort and steady money, but the fire to live totally and the door to newness takes a back seat in a socially well-adjusted life.

Hence, people are drawn towards drug abuse, titillating entertainments, gratifying junk foods, revenge travel to beat the everyday sparkless life, shallow flings, finding ways to rekindle sex in marriage, workaholic, ways to get quick rich, excessive social networking, partying too much, etc. to get temporary fire in life.

Despite the temporary kicks, most people live a passionless life as they choose to live a non-understanding pleasure-centric life.

Superficial Living and Mental Health Disorders:

Nelson Mandela quotes, ‘ there is no passion for being found playing small in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.’

Everybody is born to achieve great potential in life, live a higher life with an elevated psyche that is light-hearted, healthy, and welcomes newness.

But we quickly settle in the smallness, mirrored by heavy social conditioning and current trends of market influences.

The fancy assumptions of a happy life, which most people strive for, make us take decisions in haste. Be it choosing a career, a partner, starting a family, or anything.

All choices are made from a shallow mind heavily conditioned by the environment one is accustomed to living in.

The result is a well-adjusted and compromised secured life with little aliveness left.

According to America’s anxiety and depression association, 40 million US adults suffer from different forms of anxiety and depression problems every year.

The common mental illness they receive psychiatric treatments are GAD (Generalised anxiety disorder), PD (Panic disorder), SAD (social anxiety disorder), OCD (Obsessive-compulsive disorder), PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), major depressive disorder (MDD), and lastly, PDD (persistent depressive disorder).

Can we connect how a superficial life with no mental peace leads to many mental disorders?

How to live an inspiring life?

We human beings fail to realize that material wealth, relationships, love, sex, career advancement, fame, glossy and overconsumption lifestyle won’t give what our minds really crave.

All that the mind ever wants at its core are peace, freeness, inner contentment, a silent psyche, a certain lightness, a sense of relaxation, and alrightness.

But it craves for all these through the means of material consumption in the world. We don’t want peace and inner satisfaction directly.

We want it through a relationship, ambition, money, travel, career progress, house, gadgets, and much more.

But more and more consumption has made people realize the inner void is increasing more and more.

One feels more lonely, empty, meaningless, and purposeless in daily living. Since we are not entirely machines, the thirst inside us to live a free and peaceful life forces us towards anxiety and depression issues and temporary pleasures.

But treating the brain or satiating the body will hardly give any result. We need to look at our restless mind, turn within, and question why my life is so uninspiring and passionless.

Maybe the solution to living peaceful calm life is the honest questioning of ‘who the mind is’ and ‘why it never feels alright’ despite consuming endless things and adding more wealth.

Maybe the answer lies in understanding the mind and what it deeply wants.

Ralph Waldo Emerson powerfully quotes, ‘ the only person you are destined to become is the person you decide to be.’

Decide not to live a shallow life and choose mental peace over material comfort. All mental slavery happens because we choose comfort over peace.

For that to happen, we need to understand the actor ( the mind of you and me) and concentrate less on the action that proceeds later.

Work relentlessly in understanding who we are, as the ‘ I’ is the prime identity from which all our life endeavors emerge.

Throw light on the mind and bring clarity on that. A beautiful and empowering life emerges from it.
