For example, we experience frequent tension and boredom with insensitive bosses and colleagues who play dirty work politics. Simply, the office is mentally draining us out.
One finds no real joy in working in that organization. Instead, it’s monotonous, boring, pressure-filled, and plastic.
The stressful jobs make us desperate for a vacation in a faraway coastal island or mountains, a relaxing drink at the end of the day to avoid sleep apnea, or a weekend party to unwind ourselves.
Yet, we won’t acknowledge to ourselves that I am stuck with a wrong career. Why do we never face such uncomfortable facts? Because there is comfort, money, pleasure, and social reputation attached with a hefty salary and secure job.
You can imagine a similar situation concerning wrong relationships, wrong lifestyle, wrong value judgments, wrong ideologies, wrong thought processes, etc.
We will avoid all factual things in life until we live in self-made lies and label them as duties and moral responsibilities.
And there is no freedom from mental suffering without going close to the daily facts of our lives.
